Odisha Increases Intermediate Seats by 54,900 For 2021-22 Academic Year

Bhubaneswar: In an important development, the School and Mass Education Department, Government of Odisha has increased the Intermediate or Plus Two seats in the state by 54,900. About 800 colleges across the state have been allowed to increase the seats in various streams for the 2021-22 academic year. The move comes at a time when the pass percentage in the matriculation in the state increased this year to nearly 98 percent. More than six lakh students passed the Annual High School Certificate Examinations this year which is more than the available seats in the state.

A decision to this regard has been taken after the High Powered Committee consisting of academicians and officials gave its recommendations. The increased seats include 13000 for Science stream, 3900 for Commerce stream and 39800 for the Arts stream.
The admission process will start from 12th August through the SAMS portal of the Education Department. There will not be any hike in the admission fees this year.
