Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to receive above normal rainfall in June that will be beneficial for farmers, according to the Director General of India Meteorological Department (IMD), Dr. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra.
The IMD DG said that the Southwest Monsoon seasonal (June to September) rainfall over the country as a whole is most likely to be normal.
In Odisha, there will be normal and above rainfall at a few places and below normal rainfall at remaining places. However, some parts of the State may experience below normal rainfall this monsoon season.
While it is yet to be ascertained when the monsoon will touch Odisha, the system is being regularly monitored, he added.
Conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some parts of central Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Kerala, some more parts of Tamil Nadu, some parts of Karnataka, and some more parts of south and Central Bay of Bengal, some parts of northeast Bay of Bengal and northeastern states during next 2-3 days, the IMD stated.
