Bhubaneswar: Odisha is the number one investment destination in the country, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today.
Addressing the people of the State after unfurling the National Flag at the Exhibition Ground here today on the occasion of Independence Day, Naveen said Odisha has emerged as the most favored destination for investment beating States like Maharashtra.
The State has received investment proposals worth Rs 12,000 crore during the coronavirus pandemic.
Of the investments made in the country in the last six months, Odisha accounted 18 per cent of the total investment, the CM said.
Naveen further said that Odisha is leading the State in terms of agriculture productivity. In 2019-20, the agriculture growth rate in the country is 2.8 per cent, while the growth rate in agriculture is 7.6 per cent in Odisha, he added.
Continuing its thrust for connectivity and infrastructure development, Odisha has topped the nation for 4th consecutive time in building roads under PMGSY.
Around 5,298.43kms of roads were built in the state in 2019-20 to connect 256 habitations across the State, the CM further said.
The CM has expressed his gratitude towards Covid Warriors for their selfless service and commended them for ensuring a low fatality and high recovery rate in the State with their hard work.
CM expressed his belief that Odisha will overcome this situation soon with its courage & resilience.
Paying tributes to country’s freedom fighters, security personnel and COVID Warriors for their sacrifice, the Odisha CM said that the government has taken all measures to effectively fight the pandemic while sustaining economic activities.
