Odisha: Over 10 Lakh Youths Trained under Chief Minister’s Employment Generation Programme in Five Years

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has trained more than 10,000 youths under the Chief Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (CMEGP) in the last five years, the Assembly was informed on Monday.

As many as 10,38,301 youths (both boys and girls) have been imparted training under the programme till date ever since its launch in 2014-15 fiscal while trained youth have been placed since 2011-12 after being benefitted by the Placement Linked Training Programme.

This has been revealed by Odisha Skill Development & Technical Education Minister Premananda Nayak in the Assembly today.

The Odisha Skill Development Authority’s (OSDA) ‘Placement Linked Training Programme’ implemented since 2011-12 has been a major part of the CMEGP, the Minister added.

“While 85,680 boys and girls have been imparted training under the programme, 16,777 trained youth have been placed till 31.03.2019,” he added.

The Odisha Government had launched the CMEGP in order to expedite the skill development programme in the State and create employment generation for the youth.
