Odisha Police Holds First Preparatory Meeting for Ratha Yatra 2023 

Cuttack: Odisha Police on Monday held its first preparatory meeting for the world famous Ratha Yatra to be organized in Puri from June 20.

Chairing the meeting at State Police Headquarters here, DGP Sunil Kumar Bansal called upon the officers to be proactive and extra vigil for this year car festival.

Senior officers of State Police including R.P. Koche, ADGP, SAP; Sanjeeb Panda, Director Intelligence; Radha Kishan Sharma, ADGP (Hdqrs.); Saumendra Kumar Priyadarshi, Commissioner of Police Cuttack-Bhubaneswar; Arun Bothra, ADGP CID CB, Sanjay Kumar, ADGP (Law and Order); S. Dev Datta Singh, ADGP (Operations); Dayal Gangwar, ADGP (Railways and Coastal Security); Rajesh Kumar, ADGP (Modernisation); Amitendra Nath Sinha, IGP (CID CB); Satish Kumar Gajbhiye, IGP (Communication); Ashish Kumar Singh, IGP (CR); Anup Kumar Sahoo, DIGP (Intelligence); Akhilesvar Singh, DIGP (SIW); Dr. Kanwar Vishal Singh, SP, Puri; IGP (Provisioning), SP (Hdqrs.), SP (Signals), SP (PMT), Commandant 6th OSAP, AIGP (Provisioning) and other were present in the meeting.

There was a detailed discussion on various security arrangement related issues in the meeting.

Elaborate security arrangements will be made during the major events of Ratha Yatra, like Nabajauban Darshan, Sri Gundicha Yatra, Bahuda, Suna Besha etc. RAF and CRPF will be requisitioned well ahead of time to provide extra security coverage. senior Police Officers will be assigned for specific duties, Odisha Police said.

The senior police officers discussed key issues, such as requisition of bomb disposal squads/ HHMDs, DMFDs and metal detectors, counter intelligence squads, VVIPs security, communication arrangements and preparation of a comprehensive plan/ arrangement allotting different channels, provision of cranes, vehicles and other gadgets, installation of CCTVs, provision of road divider/ delineator and traffic cones, strengthening beach patrolling, issues related to bus-operators, opening of temporary police aid posts, regulation of traffic, accommodation of officers and force.
