Bhubaneswar: Odisha today reported its first death due to the Omicron variant of Covid-19, The deceased patient is a 45 year lady from Balangir district, who was undergoing treatment at the VIMSAR Medical College in Sambalpur. Shed died on the 27th of December but the reports came out yesterday, said the CDMO of Balangir Snehalata Sahoo.
The patient had tested positive for Covid-19 on December 23rd and was shifted to Sambalpur from Balangir when her condition deteriorated. She breathed her last on the 27th of December. Her samples were sent for genome sequencing and her reporterts were received on Wednesday.
