Bhubaneswar: A section officer has come under the scanner of Odisha Vigilance on bribery charges.
Girija Shankar Das, Section Officer, Commissioner of Food Safety, Bhubaneswar has been apprehended by the Vigilance sleuths while demanding and accepting bribe Rs.10,000 from a complainant to process his file for change of the name of pharmacist of his medicine store.
He assured the complainant to get it done by influencing a staff of Drugs Controller, Bhubaneswar where the Section Officer was posted earlier. The entire bribe money has been recovered from the possession of Das, the Vigilance said.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at 2 locations of Das from DA angle. In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS has been registered U/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 against the Section Officer. Investigation is in progress in the case, the Vigilance added.
