Odisha: Senior Officers to Make Field Visits on Third Week of Every Month to Monitor Implementation of Govt Schemes

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has asked the secretaries and senior officers to make extensive field visits and night halts in remote and rural areas for effective monitoring and review of the programmes, schemes and delivery of critical public services.

The State Government has decided not to hold any review meeting at government level in the Secretariat during the third week of each month, except in case of emergencies to be decided by the Chief Secretary, so that the secretaries and senior officers can plan in advance and undertake field tours during the third week to the districts start from April 23.

Development Commissioner Anu Garg wrote a letter to Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Commissioner-cum-Secretaries, Special Secretaries in this regard.

The State Government have taken up a number of initiatives in the recent past for transformation in education, healthcare, irrigation, agriculture, skilled development, investment promotion, among others. This is to ensure inclusive growth in all sectors through human development, creation of physical and social infrastructure, provision of social safety nets for the disadvantaged and vulnerable sections and employment of women, youth, scheduled tribes, scheduled castes, other backward classes, minorities, differently abled and the senior citizens.

It is imperative that all secretaries and senior officers, whether they have been allotted a particular district or not, should make extensive field visits and night halts in remote and rural areas for effective monitoring and review of the programmes, schemes and delivery of critical public services. This will not only make the administration people-friendly and responsive through redressal of public grievances but also help obtaining citizens’ feedback about the efficacy of the schemes and programmes, the letter reads.
