Berhampur: The Ganjam District administration is coming up with innovative arrangements for lockdown.
The administration has engaged Self Help Groups (SHGs) who have distributed onions and potatos to the doorsteps of the people in different wards of the Berhampur Municipality Corporation.
The administration has rolled out as may as 20 trolleys with SHG groups to distribute the essential items at reasonable prices to the people.
The administration has also decided to roll out such mechanism in all NACs and Municipal areas in the district.
The district administration is also planning to distribute other essential grocery items at the doorstep of the people with the help of SHG groups.
Speaking exclusively to the Newsroom.co.in, the district Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange said, “We want people to stay home and maintain social distancing and to provide services at the doorstep of the people. So we decided to engage SHG groups to distribute onions and potatoes at reasonable prices”.
Earlier, the Collector urged the shopkeepers to draw circle and square shapes outside their shops to ensure social distancing when the customers do purchases.
