Bhubaneswar: Vaccination of teens between 15 to 18 years of age has kick started in Odisha with most of the vaccine centers experience large crowds. The state government has put up 939 dedicated vaccination centers in the state to inoculate the young people.
While vaccination at the special centers will be undertaken from 8 am to 1pm, other regular counters will also vaccinate the teens. The government aims to complete the vaccination of the teens between by the end of this month. Odisha has more than 23.5 lakh teens who will be vaccinated in this special drive and the state government has set a target of vaccinating them before 31st January. The state has a stock of more than 15 lakh vaccine doses which will be used to vaccinate the teens and others as well.
In Capital Bhubaneswar also long queues were seen in the vaccination centers. More than one lakh people will be vaccinated in the Capital alone. Odisha has decided that, initially the students of 9th and 11th class will be vaccinated and from 8th January, class 10 and class 11 students will be vaccinated.
While more than three and half lakh people have registered for the special vaccination drive, on site vaccine is also continuing. The teens are being given only Covaxin vaccine. The second dose to the teens will be given after 28 to 40 days of the first dose vaccination.
