Odisha to Witness Heavy Rainfall till Aug 16 due to Low Pressure Impact

Bhubaneswar: Several parts in Odisha are likely to witness heavy rainfall till August 16 under the impact of low pressure.

As per the India Metrological Department (IMD), a Low Pressure Area is likely to form over North Bay of Bengal around August 13. It is likely to become more marked during the subsequent 24 hours and move west-northwestwards thereafter.

Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj today till early morning of August 12, according to the IMD prediction.

The districts such as Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Angul, Cuttack, Khordha, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, and Bargarh will have similar weather condition for the next 24 hours i.e. till the early morning of August 13.

From August 13 to the early morning of August 14, heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, and Kalahandi. Similarly, over the districts of Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Sambalpur, Angul, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, and Cuttack from August 14 to early morning of August 15.

Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khordha, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, and Jharsuguda during the same period.

From August 15, till the early morning of August 16, heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Nawarangpur, Nuapada, Bolangir, and Bargarh.

Under the influence of strong monsoon flow and anticipated low pressure area, Squally weather with gusty surface wind speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph very likely over Northwest adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast during 11-12 August and Squally surface wind speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph gusting 65kmph very likely along & off Odisha coast & North adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal during 13 to 15th August.
