Odisha Train Derailment: Stranded Passengers Express Dismay over Lack of Drinking Water, Basic Arrangements
Bhubaneswar: The passengers, who were affected by the derailment of Bangalore-Kamakhya AC Superfast Express near Nergundi Station in the Cuttack-Nergundi Railway Section, expressed their dismay over the lack of drinking water and other basic facilities.
The passengers were left stranded without basic facilities at the mishap site for hours.
The passengers, who got off the derailed train, alleged that the Indian Railways has not made arrangement for basic facilities. The enraged passengers had to wait for hours for basic facilities like food, water under the scorching heat, as per reports.
They also expressed their concerns over the frequent occurrence of train mishaps.
Later, the locals rushed to the accident site with drinking water, ORS sachets and towels to provide relief to the stranded passengers from the heat wave. After initial relief efforts, a special train was arranged by ECoR to help passengers continue their journey to their destinations.
Notably, one person was killed while eight others were injured in the mishap, which reportedly took place at around 11:54 a.m. today.
