Odisha Train Tragedy: Official Death Toll 275; 88 Bodies Identified

Bhubaneswar: The official death toll in the three-way railway accident involving Bengaluru-Howrah express, the Coromandel Express and goods train at Bahanaga Bazar Station, Balasore district is 275.

The revised figure has been released by the Odisha Government after the verification, informed State Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena on Sunday.

Briefing the press, the Chief Secretary said that as many as 88 dead bodies have been identified so far and 187 are yet to be identified.

Of the 187 bodies, 170 bodies have been brought to Bhubaneswar and the remaining bodies will be brought to Bhubaneswar from Balasore, he added.

The Chief Secretary further informed that the rescue operations have been completed.

As per the SRC, 1175 injured admitted to hospitals in Soro, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Cuttack, 336 have been discharged while another 382 are still under treatment.
