Odisha Vigilance Apprehends Mahakalapada Tahasil Amin While Taking Bribe

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance Department officials have apprehended Umakanta Behera, Amin, Office of Tahasildar, Mahakalapada, while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.2000 from a Complainant to release the detailed report after demarcation of land of the complainant. Based on an input received on Toll Free Number 1064 of Odisha Vigilance, he has been apprehended. The entire bribe money has been recovered from Behera, Amin, and seized.

According to the Vigilance Department, the complainant had been requesting Umakanta Behera to release the demarcation report of his land for last one month,. But, Sri Behera was demanding bribe Rs 2,000 to release the said report. The complainant, being a poor man, was not able to pay the demanded bribe. Hence, finding no other means, he alleged before Vigilance Authority about his problem over toll-free No 1064 of Odisha Vigilance. Accordingly, Vigilance officials nabbed Sri Behera, Amin today, while accepting the demanded bribe money from the complainant. Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations of Sri Behera from DA angle. In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance PS case no 12/2024 U/s-7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused Sri Behera, Amin.
