Bhubaneswar: Bikash Kumar Senapati, Accountant at the Block Education Officer, Puri, has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 5,000 from a Complainant for issue of NOC to release his gratuity. The teacher had retired from service in May 2022. Since his retirement, he had been requesting Senapati, Accountant, to issue the NOC in his favour to get his gratuity. However, the Accountant was demanding bribe of Rs 5000 to issue the NOC in favour of the retired teacher.
Finding no other way, the retired teacher informed about his harassment to the Vigilance Authority. Accordingly, Bikash Kumar Senapati, Accountant, was nabbed by the Vigilance team today, while accepting the demanded bribe Rs 5,000 from the retired teacher. The entire bribe amount has been recovered and seized from the possession of Sri Senapati. Following the successful trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Sri Senapati from DA angle. In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS case no 4/2024 u/s 7 PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused Sri Senapati, Accountant.
