Odisha Vigilance Nabs Junior Clerk for Taking Bribe

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Friday nabbed a junior clerk at the office of Additional Sub-Collector, Settlement, Balasore for allegedly taking bribe.

The junior clerk has been identified as Laxmi Narayan Nath.

Nath was caught by the Vigilance sleuths while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 4000 from a person for giving certified copy of Yadas Sabak record prior to settlement of his paternal land which stands recorded in the name of his father.

Nath had demanded bribe Rs 5,000 from complaint to furnish the said certified copy.

Today, out of the demanded bribe, the clerk while accepting bribe 4000 was nabbed by the Vigilance team.

The entire bribe money has been recovered from the accused. Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations of Nath in Balasore district from DA angle, the Vigilance said.

In this connection, Balasore Vigilance PS Case No. U/s 7 P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against Nath.
