Bhubaneswar: Odisha will be a Model Lokayukta State in the coming days. The body of Lokayukta is yet to be fully established but has been established substantially and the state government is wholeheartedly cooperating to make it a Model Lokayukta. Speaking to the media for the first time after taking charge of the Lokayukta, Justice Ajit Singh has called on the people to not become victims of corruption and approach the Lokayukta for complaints against government officials.
Justice Singh was interacting with the media to create awareness about the establishment of Lokayukta so that people do not become victims of corruption and assist the Lokayuka in making the state free from corruption.
Justice Singh also assured that every possible step will be taken to ensure that the complainant is not subject to corrupt practices by public servants. He said awareness campaign programs will be organized in the districts to make aware the people about the Lokayukta Act. The first awareness camp will be organised in Sambalpur on June 29th.
Interacting with the media persons, Justice Singh said an ordinary person can lodge a complaint against public servants as well as people’s representatives such as the Chief Minister, Ministers, MPs, MLAs and other public representatives.
The Odisha Lokayukta Act came into force from July 7, 2018 and the body of the Lokayukta was established with effect from February 28, 2019. Justice Singh became the first Lokayukta of Odisha and assumed the office on March 20, 2019.
