Odisha Wins Three National Awards At The ISC-FICCI Sanitation Awards 2021

Bhubaneswar: In a major recognition to Odisha’s urban sanitation initiatives, the Housing And Urban Development Department, Government of Odisha has won three prestigious awards at the 5th ISC-FICCI Sanitation Awards 2021 given yesterday. Scripting inspiring success stories and setting new benchmarks for urban India, WATCO Odisha has won the important Special Recognition Award for Government for implementing the revolutionary scheme Garima for Core Sanitation Workers.

Achieving the twin goals of sustainable urban sanitation along with empowerment of the marginalized, Ms Seetal Bastai from Bahucharmata Transgender SHG has been awarded with the Women Change Makers In Sanitation Award. It has been given in recognition to her transformative journey in efficiently managing the Septage Treatment Plant in Cuttack in partnership with Cuttack Municipal Corporation.

The third and important award was received by Dhenkanal Municipality for Best Faecal Sludge and Septage Management Model (Urban) for demonstrating a successful Urban Rural Convergence. Odisha continues to lead the country in Faecal Sludge Management for three consecutive years having won six ISC-FICCI Awards so far.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has congratulated the Housing and Urban Development Department for this achievement that reinforces the commitment of the state towards clean and healthy Odisha.
