Bhubaneswar: Odisha has witnessed record rainfall in the last 24 years due to depression over northwest Bay of Bengal off north Odisha.
Kandhamal district had received an average of 183.2 mm followed by Rayagada and Malkangiri district with 163.4 mm and 129. 3 mm respectively in 24 hours ended that at 8 am on today, according to reports.
Several blocks in the State received over 100 mm of rain with Kashipur recording 330 mm followed by Sonepur’s Tarabha with 249 mm.
Similarly, Muniguda received 210 mm of rain and Daringbadi with 145 mm, Malkangiri’s Korkonda with 175 mm and Puri with 106 mm rainfall today.
According to the IMD, the depression over northwest Bay of Bengal off north Odisha is likely to intensify into a deep depression causing heavy downpour in various parts of the State.
