Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s first human milk bank was opened at the Capital Hospital here on Wednesday.
The milk bank was set up at the paediatric unit of the hospital to meet the needs of newborns.
It is the 34th Comprehensive Lactation Management Centre (CLMC) in the country and the first in Odisha.
The initiative by the National Health Mission (NHM) will cater to the needs of newborns across the state, said hospital sources.
Two mothers donated milk to the bank on the opening day of the facility.
The facility will store mother’s milk, which will be supplied to hospitals across the State, if the need arises, according to reports.
