Odisha’s Rain Deficiency Narrows To -2 Percent with Continuous Spells of Monsoon Rains

Bhubaneswar: The recent spells of monsoon rains across the state have resulted in narrowing down the deficiency significantly. By Wednesday, the rainfall deficiency had reduced to just two percent negative in Odisha. Almost all states have received significant rains in the last few days and are expected to continue in the next few days too. While Malkanagiri received the highest rainfall in the season with fifty percent above normal, Khordha and Balasore received below normal rainfall at 26 percent and 24 percent in the negative.

The rainfall data shows between 1st June to 20th August, 27 districts of the state have received normal rains. Cumulatively, Odisha has received 795.9 mm rain water, which is just two percent below the normal parameters. With the state expecting to see another low pressure in the coming days, it is expected that the rainfall deficiency will further improve.
