Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has issued an official notification for creation of a Special Security Battalion at Puri for the safety and security of Shree Jagannath Temple, Puri.
A dedicated Special Security Battalion having 1083 posts in different ranks will be created at Puri for the safety and security of Shree Jagannath Temple, the Home Department said.
The Special Security Battalion would function under the command and control of Superintendent of Police, Puri.
In lieu of creation of the Special Security Battalion at Puri; 139 posts of A.P.R. Force created earlier under Singhdwar Police Station for safety and security of Shree Jagannath Temple, Puri are abolished, the Department added.
