Padampur By-Poll: BJD Moves CEO Seeking Strong Security for MLA Susanta Singh

Bhubaneswar: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Friday moved the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) seeking strong security for its party MLA Susanta Singh.

A delegation of BJD demanded the CEO for increasing security of Susanta Singh fearing murderous attack from two BJP leaders who had murderously attacked the MLA’s brother in 2018 Bijepur by-poll and now are again planning such murderous conspiracy in Padampur by-poll against Singh.

“The BJP has a long history of electoral violence in Odisha. We had in fact filed a petition with your office yesterday itself how a BJD worker Sanju Bariha was murderously attacked on 23rd November, 2022 by BJP worker Rinku Meher along with other BJP workers at Bubuda Village, Dahigaon GP, Padampur Block leading to serious head injury for which he had to be shifted to VIMSAR, Burla as his condition worsened”, the BJD said.

Electoral violence is a habit for the BJP in Odisha and they might well be preparing for more in the coming days, the BJD delegation added.
