Chatrapur: The paddy procurement for the kharif season 2023-24 will begin from December 19 in Ganjam district.
Over 1.46 lakh farmers have registered for selling their paddy in the district.
The Ganjam administration targets to procure 45.67 lakh quintals of paddy through 469 paddy collection centers to be opened in 22 blocks through 3665 Primary Cooperative Societies (PACs), 103 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and one pani panchayat.
More than 360 millers will participate in the paddy collection process.
Ganjam Collector Dibya Jyoti Parida has held a virtual meeting with the members of cooperative societies, farmers and mill owners regarding the paddy procurement.
The cost of one quintal normal paddy has been fixed at Rs 2183 and A-grade quality at Rs 2203. The MSP has been increased Rs 143 for general paddy and Rs 137 for A-grade, compared to the last year.
