Cuttack: Devarapalli Prakash Rao, a social activist and tea seller who was awarded Padma Shri for his contribution towards boosting the value of education among slum kids, passed away today while undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital. He was 63.
Rao was reportedly admitted to the SCB on December 25 after tested positive for coronavirus. He died at around 4.15 pm, sources said.
For the past two decades, Rao had been setting aside half his income from selling tea for educating slum children.
