Bhubaneswar: Ace wrestler Vinesh Phogat’s disqualification from the Paris Olympics 2024 in the 50 kg category has shocked the country.
BJD President Naveen Patnaik said that he was pained to know the disqualification of Phogat from the Olympics ahead of the gold medal fight.
“Pained to know about the disqualification of Vinesh Phogat from Paris Olympics 2024, ahead of gold medal fight tonight. I share the despair you and your millions of fans from across the country are experiencing right now”, Naveen said.
“You may not be able to complete your fight for podium finish at Olympics but you are a champion already. Throughout the Paris Olympics 2024, you have shown remarkable grit and resilience to reach this far. I am sure you will come out stronger in future. Best Wishes”, the BJD supremo wrote on his ‘X’ handle.

Vinesh Phogat, who earlier defeated Japanese wrestler Yui Susaki, has been disqualified from further competition after she was found to be 100 grams over 50 kg category, as per reports.
