New Delhi: Two days after the Indian Government scrapped Article 370, Article 35A and bifurcated Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories (UTs), Pakistan has suspended the Samjhauta Express train services linking India and Pakistan, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded at the Wagah-Attari border.
Pakistan Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Thursday announced that his country had closed the train services with India, media reports stated.
Pakistan relegated diplomatic relations with India and suspended bilateral trade in the wake of New Delhi’s move to revoke the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
The neighboring country also decided to expel Indian High Commissioner Ajay Bisaria and suspended bilateral trade with India.
The Samjhauta Express is known as the Friendship Express. It is a bi-weekly train (Thursday and Monday) and runs between Delhi and Attari in India and Lahore in Pakistan.
