Bhubaneswar: The results of the grassroots level Panchayat Elections in Odisha are out and the mandate is clearly in favour of the ruling dispensation. The huge mandate from the people is for the agenda of development and good governance of the Government of Odisha led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The Biju Janata Dal has won in nearly 90 percent of the Zilla Parishad seats with huge margins and this can be credited to the continuous thrust on the development of the people and welfare activities aimed at improving the overall standards of living in the state. It is very rare to see such kind of faith people reposing in their leaders. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s exemplary leadership since the last two decades has brought immense development to Odisha and new opportunities for growth have been created. People today are happy more than ever because of his unparalleled leadership.
The three-tier Panchayat Elections results show that the Biju Janata Dal has secured 90 percent of the mandate in the state. Latest results show, the party has won 743 seats out of the 851 Zilla Parishad seats and leading in many others taking the total in its favour to 765 seats. If we take this mandate for Biju Janata Dal in terms of assembly constituencies, the results translate into 134-136 seats out of 140 assembly seats that went for elections and the seven other seats being from the urban areas that will have elections in the coming days.
This biggest mandate by the people of Odisha reflect the mood of the state and is based on the performance of the government in the last two decades. This big mandate has come as a response to the good governance by the Biju Janata Dal Government. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s leadership and the development happening in the state is reflected in the results. It is a mandate for the many development initiatives the Naveen government has taken for the welfare of the people. Some of the best initiatives that have been appreciated by the people of Odisha include the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, KALIA Yojana, School Transformation scheme, 5T Initiatives, Mo Sarkar, Mission Shakti, irrigation infrastructure development, universal electrification, social security initiative for various categories of people and overall a committed and responsive governance.
The Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana is the best healthcare scheme the country ever devised by a government. It entitles more than 3.5 crore people of 91 lakh families for free treatment in government and private hospitals. Te Smart Health cards can be used by the beneficiaries to avail treatment upto Rs five lakhs and Rs 10 lakhs for women. This revolutionary initiative has already helped lakhs of people from across the state to receive best of the treatment. This has certainly touched the lives of the common man in Odisha which is reflected in the Panchayat mandate today.
The Government of Odisha has been hugely investing in the Heathcare sector in the state. All district Hospitals of the state are being transformed with latest infrastructure and facilities. Required manpower in the form of Doctors, Paramedical staff and other infrastructure are being augmented in the hospitals to give the common man free healthcare.
Under the KALIA scheme more than 50 lakh farmers of Odishaare getting financial help for augmenting their farming activity. Launched in 2018, the scheme is benefitting more than 90 percent of the farmers of the state by helping them increase their incomes. This has practically improved the living standards of the farmers by contributing to their income generation sources. The farmers have given a thumbs up to Naveen’s leadership and the welfare oriented schemes in the Panchayat Polls.
Odisha has witnessed a huge improvement in the irrigation potential in the state thanks to the investments in infrastructure. A number of large and medium irrigation projects have been activated helping lakhs of farmers get water for farming. The Parvati Giri Mega Lift Irrigation projects is helping farmers from the high lands to get water for multiple crops. Likewise the Gangadhar Meher Lift Irrigation Project, Rengali Multipurpose Project, Lower Suktel Project, Deo Project, the Telgiri Irrigation Project are some of the initiative that are going to help the farmers increase their produce and give them a permanent source of water.
One of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s many pathbreaking initiatives that have changed the lives of rural people is the Mission Shakti initiative to improve the lives of women of the state. Mission Shakti has economically empowered more than 70 lakh women of Odisha through creation of Self Help Groups. It has provided them additional employment opportunities and helped them become economically independent.
The School Transformation Program initiated by the Government of Odisha to improve the overall condition of the schools and transform them into modern learning centers has been working wonders. More than one thousand high schools of the state have been transformed with state of the art infrastructure and facilities giving the students an opportunity to compete with the best of the private schools.
The development of places of religious and cultural importance with infrastructure and facilities has been continuing for a couple of years for now. The biggest transformation is going on in Puri with the Heritage corridor projects. The Lingaraj Temple getting transformed with the Ekamra Scheme. All other temples of significance such as the Samaleswari Temple, Tara Tarini Temple, Manikeswari Temple etc., have also undergone transformation in terms of facilities for the devotees.
Odisha has been able to take the maximum number of people out of poverty in the last two decades when compared to other states of the country. The living standard of the people of Odisha has improves manifolds. The economy has been witnessing double digit growth and the per capita income of the people is continuously increasing. These are some of the many factors that have reflected the mood of the common man in the Panchayat Polls. The mandate that has come today clearly shows that the four and half crore people of Odisha repose their faith on the leadership of Naveen Patnaik and he is in turn taking care of them as family members.
