Bhubaneswar: The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Rural Development headed by Shree Pratap Rao Jadhav has praised Odisha for its successful model implemented in Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Grameen). It has also called upon the Ministry of Rural Development Department (MoRD) to ask other states to emulate the Odisha Model in implementing the program.
The Odisha Government has introduced a new practice wherein for every ten beneficiaries of PMAY (G), a Field Officer has been attached to speed up the completion of the houses. The Standing Committee has said that the new practice has given good results. The Report contains the state wise Physical Progress information of the First and Second Phase of the Yojana. During 2020-21 financial year, the aim was to construct 6 lakh, 89 thousand 990 rural houses. Likewise, of the Rs 656 Crore 85 lakh earmarked for the program, an amount of Rs 522 Crore 40 lakhs has been spent.
The 5T charter of the Panchayatiraj & Drinking Water Department aims to ensure that each and every beneficiary gets his house built in time without any hassles. The Field Officers have been instructed to reach out to them and solve the issues if any immediately. This has resulted in speeding up the completion process.
