Bhubaneswar: Streets and roads wore a deserted look in most of the districts bordering Chhattisgarh today as the weekend shutdown is being strictly implemented by the district administrations.
Police forces were deployed in adequate numbers at major areas by the administration and people are being persuaded to remain indoors. While shops and establishments were shut down emergency services remained normal in these areas.
The state government has imposed weekend shut down in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Balangir, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri as thet remain most vulnerable to infections due to the rise in cases in neighboring Chhattisgarh.
All non-essential movement of individuals has been prohibited during this period.
The government has also put a break on vaccination drive during these two days od shutdown in the ten districts.
Meanwhile, the urban areas of the other twenty districts are also bracing for the night curfew being imposed from 9 pm to 5 am from today.
