PK Mishra Appointed New Principal Secretary of PM

 

New Delhi: Former IAS officer P K Mishra hailing from Odisha has been appointed as the Principal Secretary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) chaired by the Prime Minister approved the appointments and the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued the orders.

The Odisha-born former Gujarat cadre IAS officer of 1972 batch succeeds Nripendra Misra who quit on August 30.

PK Mishra’s previous assignments included Additional Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, and Secretary Agriculture & Cooperation, where he was involved in schemes like the National Food Security Mission.
As per a press statement released by the government, he has managed programmes across a number of different sectors, including agriculture, disaster management, infrastructure and power, and regulatory issues, and has been involved in schemes like the National Agriculture Development Programme and the National Food Security Mission.

Meanwhile, former Cabinet Secretary P K Sinha was named as Principal Advisor to the Prime Minister, which is a new post.
