Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has concluded the review meeting here on Friday to assess the damage caused by severe cyclonic storm Yaas in Odisha.
At the meeting, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik apprised the Prime Minister about the large scale devastation caused by the cyclone and steps taken by the State Government ahead of the cyclone and the ongoing restoration efforts.
Odisha has not demanded any immediate relief package from the Prime Minister at the review meeting.
“As the country is at the peak of COVID19 pandemic, we have not sought any immediate financial assistance to burden the Central Govt and would like to manage it through our own resources to tide over the crisis”, the Chief Minister said.
He further said that Odisha is seeking long term measures to make the State disaster resilient as it is frequented by such climate hazards every year.
The CM also highlighted Odisha’s demand for disaster resilient power infrastructure and resilient coastal protection with storm surge resilient embankments.
