Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Saturday apprehended Simanchal Moharana, ASI of Police, Dabugaon PS in Nabarangpur district for accepting of bribe of Rs 5000 from a Complainant for showing leniency and to help in a case registered earlier in Dabugaon PS against him and his family members.
Moharana was nabbed inside Dabugaon Police Station.
On seeing the Vigilance Officials, Moharana threw the entire bribe money in the police station. The money has been recovered and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Moharana, from DA angle.
In this connection, Koraput Vigilance P.S Case No. 06 Dt. 01.03.2024 U/s 7 P.C Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused ASI.
