Bhubaneswar: A police sub-inspector has been nabbed by Odisha Vigilance for allegedly taking bribe from a person in connection with a case.
The police officer has been identified as Priyabrata Pradhan, Sub Inspector (SI) of Saheed Nagar PS, Bhubaneswar UPD.
Pradhan has been apprehended while demanding and accepting bribe money of Rs 2000 as second installment of overall demand of Rs 5,000 from a complainant to return the seized DL in connection with a case registered in Saheed Nagar PS two days back, the Vigilance said.
The complainant had paid Rs 3000 to the accused SI on 21.3.2024. But he demanded Rs 2000 more to release the DL.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Pradhan from DA angle.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case no 8/2024 U/s-7PC (Amendment)Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused SI, the Vigilance said.
