New Delhi: The polling has begun in 13 Assembly constituencies for the first phase of the Assembly elections in Jharkhand.
The voting started at 7 this morning and will end in the afternoon.
The constituencies are spread over six districts of Chatra, Palamu, Gumla, Garhwa, Latehar and Lohardagga.
As many as 189 candidates, including 15 women candidates are in the fray for the 13 seats. The candidates’ fate will be decided by 37,83,055 voters.
Out of total 4,892 booths, 1,790 have been declared most-sensitive, while over one thousand two hundred booths as sensitive, as per reports.
In the first phase, Naxal-affected areas, like Latehar, Lohardaga, Chatra, Gumla, Manika, Panki and Daltonganj will go to polls.
Elections in Jharkhand will be held in five phases and the results will be announced on 23rd of December.
