Bhubaneswar: The newly elected Biju Janata Dal MP from Aska Pramila Bisoi has proved that age and English does not matter when it comes to raising the issues concerning people in the Parliament. Fondly called Pramila Mausi in her constituency because of her age, she today spoke in the Lok Sabha on an important issue concerning the Asha and Anganwadi workers. She raised the issue of low wages to both the groups.
Speaking in clear Odia language, Bisoi started her speech greeting the members on the occasion of Ratha Yatra and thanking the speaker for giving her a chance to speak on this auspicious day.
She spoke on the issues of low wages for the grassroot level workers – Asha and Anganwadi workers along with the helpers. She reminded the house that in the year 2018 the center had increased the allowance given to them to Rs 4,500 which is not sufficient. She requested the center to respect the honour and dignity of the grassroots level women. She demanded that the remuneration be hiked to Rs 15,000 and Rs 12,000 respectively for the Asha and Anganwadi workers respectively. Concluding her speech she greeted the house with Jay Jagannath! Jay Odisha!”.
With this speech, the soft spoken member of the parliament has proved that she cannot be underestimated when it comes to raising the issues of people in the Parliament. Those who had trolled her selection by the Biju Janata Dal should now rethink their attitude and support her in the process of development of the state.
This also proves that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s selection of Pramila Bisoi is not in vague. It is surely going to add to the empowerment of women in the state and the nation as whole.
