Bhubaneswar: Proper medical treatment was ensured to a cerebral palsy patient in Jajpur district with the help of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) team.
The patient identified as Ghasiram Munda is a resident of Sarangapur village in Jajpur district. For the last three to four years, minor Ghasiram’s body has not been growing in proportion to his age. Hence, he is unable to work. After learning about the boy’s health condition from media reports, the BSKY team immediately swung into action in a mission mode.
With the help of the team, Ghasiram was brought to Sukinda Community Health Centre (CHC) on April 1 by an ambulance. After conducting necessary tests and treatment there, he was referred to the district headquarters hospital for further treatment. But, unwilling to go to Jajpur, Ghasiram ran away home on various pretexts.
The BSKY team consulted the parents of the patient. He was again brought to the Skuinda CHC on April 17. After preliminary treatment, the patient was sent to the early intervention center of Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital with the help of the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) team for further special treatment.
After a special examination, Ghasiram was found to have cerebral palsy. The doctor suspected that the disease was present in him from birth. He has been provided with necessary treatment, physiotherapy and better quality medicines. Arrangements have been made for his physiotherapy three times a week at the District Headquarters Hospital and Ghasiram’s parents have been advised and informed to take this facility. It is expected that there will be a significant improvement in his condition with regular treatment.
The villagers and intellectuals have lauded the efforts of the BSKY and RBSK teams for their outstanding efforts in ensuring proper treatment to Ghasiram.
