Bhubaneswar: BJD President and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Naveen Patnaik has expressed his happiness as the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has lauded the Odisha’s impressive fiscal growth in its State of Finances Report 2023-24.

In a social media post, LoP Naveen has highlighted the transformation of Odisha from a state of chronic revenue deficits, mounting debt, and limited development expenditure to an exemplar state.
“Proud to be a part of the transformation from a state of chronic revenue deficits, mounting debt, and limited development expenditure to an exemplar state”, he said.
Due to the prudent financial management, reforms and innovative 5T governance framework, Odisha’s GSDP has grown from ₹5,37,502 Cr in 2019-20 to ₹8,53,524Cr in 2023-24 while revenue surplus increased by 58%, the BJD President said.
Strong fiscal health helped in funding many critical social and developmental initiatives like BSKY, KALIA, Mission Shakti, Skill Development, Odisha School Transformation, tribal development, Disaster Management, infrastructure development, irrigation projects, poverty alleviation initiatives and funding our own food security scheme. This turn around which will anchor sustained prosperity in future would not have been possible without the support of 4.5 Cr people of Odisha, Naveen added.
