Puri: A hardcore criminal involved in several cases was booked under the National Security Act (NSA) in Puri.
The veteran criminal has been identified as Sashi alias Sasanka Sekhar Nayak (32) from Puri Town.
Sashi was booked and detained under the National Security Act by the order of District Magistrate and Collector, Puri Samarth Verma, informed the Puri Police.
Sashi was involved in a series of cases including murder, attempt to murder, dacoity, extortion and criminal intimidation in Town Police Station limits as well other police stations of Puri District.
He has also involved himself in a series of violent crimes resulting in terrorizing the common people and disruption of public order and tranquility, the police said.
Earlier, the police had booked hardcore criminal Batu alias Batakrushna Swain (36) under the National Security Act .
In order to make the holy city of Puri safe for the citizens, tourists and pilgrims, police will continue its action against the criminals and anti-socials.
