Puri: A Havildar on duty at the Puri Jagannath Temple has been suspended after a woman devotee had alleged that she was thrashed by the police man inside the temple premises today morning. The woman devotee, Madhuri Das, hailing from Berhampur was injured in the incident and treated at the District Headquarter Hospital.
The accused Havildar Prashant Dalai has been placed under suspension. According to Puri Superintendent of Police, a probe has been launched under the supervision of an Additional SP rank official to find out what led to the incident. Statements of the Sri Jagannath Temple Police will also be recorded and CCTV visuals will also be checked.
