Rajya Sabha By-Polls: BJP Leader Jagannath Pradhan Withdraws Nomination

Bhubaneswar: BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan on Tuesday withdrew his nomination for the Rajya Sabha by-elections.

Pradhan filled his nomination as an Independent candidate on August 21 hours after the nomination was submitted by BJP leader Mamata Mohanta in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and other BJP leaders.

“I filed my nomination following the party’s decision. Subsequently, I withdrew my nomination today, adhering to the party’s directive. The BJP assigned me this task, and I executed it as a disciplined party member,” said Pradhan.

Earlier, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced by-election to 12 Rajya Sabha seats including one from Odisha on September 3.
