Puri: Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Rajendra Prasad Sharma on Sunday held a meeting to review security arrangements in the pilgrim city of Puri for the upcoming world famous Rath Yatra.
The meeting held at Town Hall, Puri was attended by several senior police officers where they were briefed on the security arrangements for the annual festival.
Giving top priority to maintenance of law and order in the city, the DGP said that there will be additional security arrangements in the railway station, bus stand, parking places and the Singhadwara.
The entire Puri town will remain under CCTV surveillance during the festival, Sharma told the media after the meeting.
About 155 platoons of police personnel of various ranks, two companies of Rapid Action Force (RAF), three companies of Odisha Swift Action Force (OSAF) and three platoons of Special Tactical Unit (STU) will be deployed in the holy town for smooth conduct of the festival, sources said.
The preparations are in full swing for the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath and his siblings, Balabhadra and Subhadra for July 4 next.
The festival will be witnessed by lakhs of devotees from all corners of the world.
