Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: Renowned Odia actor Uttam Mohanty passed away while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Gurugram. He was 66.
Mohanty had dominated the Odia film industry throughout the 80’s and 90’s, playing a wide range of roles. He had starred in more than 130 Odia films and acted in 30 Bengali films. He had also appeared in a Hindi film ‘Naya Zaher’.
The versatile actor bagged numerous awards and accolades, including Jayadeb Puraskar, Odisha Living Legend Award and Odisha State Film.
Mohanty was undergoing treatment for his liver problem. He was airlifted to the national capital earlier this month for advanced medical care.
His wife Aparajita and son Babusan are also popular Odia film actors.
