Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government will come up with a roadmap for the overall development of farmers and agriculture sector in the State, informed Agriculture Minister Arun Sahoo to the Assembly today.
In order to prepare the roadmap, the government will take suggestions of all legislators, Sahoo said during the Question Hour on second day of the budget session in Assembly.
He also respected the proposal given by the senior legislators during the discussion.
As per the 2011 Census report, there are more than 57 lakh farm households, of which 32.80 lakh are cultivators and 24.20 lakh are farm labourers, the Minister told the House.
Replying to a question, the minister said that nearly 22 lakh farmers have been provided the KALIA financial assistance so far under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), while several farmers have also applied for the scheme in the green form.
