New Delhi: In a bid to contain the spread of COVID-19 in Jharkhand, the State Government has come up with stringent rules, imposing a fine of Rs 1 lakh for not wearing face masks and a two-year jail term for violating lockdown guidelines.
The Jharkhand Government has issued the Infectious Diseases Ordinance (IDO) 2020 that makes the act of not wearing mask on public an offence liable to a penalty of Rs 1 lakh. The ordinance also makes illegal assembly liable to penalty and a term of imprisonment.
The move comes in the wake of rise in number of COVID-19 cases in the State.
According to reports, the total cases of Coronavirus in Jharkhand rose to 6485 on Thursday including 3,397 active cases, 3024 recoveries and 64 deaths.
