Subarnapur: Since the COVID-19 pandemic has compelled the schools to shift their base to virtual platforms to impart teaching in digital mode, the Subarnapur district administration have used the rural libraries to facilitate the online classes for the poor students, who dont have smartphones and laptops.
Currently, the students from poor families with no access to smart phones are taking online classes in rural libraries in four gram panchayats – Ranisarda, Sibtula, Charbhata and Kamsara of Tarbha block, informed Subarnapur Collector Monisha Banerjee.
The rural libraries, which can be a potent tool for social transformation by enlightening the youth, are immensely helping the class IX and Xth students of the government run-schools to attend the online classes in the prevailing corona pandemic situation.
Well-furnished chairs, tables, television set, laptops with internet connections have been installed in these libraries to create a pleasant atmosphere for learning for the students at par with any other private libraries, the Collector said.
The teachers also remain present during the online classes to help the students in case they face any technical or other problems.
The district administration has plans to set up one library in each GP in future, which can be a knowledge hub for the local community.
The outbreak of coronavirus has resulted in schools shut all over the State. The students are out of the classroom. Catering to the educational needs of the students, the State Government has introduced the online education as an alternative to ordinary face to face classes.
In view of the changing scenario, the Subarnapur district admin are making efforts to support the student, especially those belonging to the poor sections, to reap the benefits of online education being provided by the schools.
