Bhubaneswar: After renaming the Sachivalaya (Odisha Secretariat) to Lok Seva Bhawan, the entire stretch of road from AG square to Acharya Vihar, which was known as Sachivalaya Marg, has been renamed as ‘Lok Seva Marg’, informed General Administration and Public Grievance Department on Saturday.
The decision to this effect was taken keeping in view of the new name of Odisha State Secretariat as Lok Seva Bhawan.
The General Administration and Public Grievance Department said: “With the change in the nomenclature of Odisha ‘Secretariat’ as ‘Lok Seva Bhawan’, the entire stretch of road from AG square to Archarya Vihar will now be called as ‘Lok Seva Marg.”
On July 29, this year, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had announced State Secretariat or ‘Sachivalaya as Lok Seva Bhawan.
Notably the Odisha secretariat building was inaugurated on November 12, 1959, by the then Home Minister Govind Ballabh Pant.
