Salute to Corona Warrior: Officer Battling with Cancer Continues Fight against COVID-19

Berhampur: Putting duty before self, an OAS officer from Odisha’s Ganjam district battling with cancer has emerged as one of the frontline warriors in this unprecedented coronavirus pandemic situation as he has been working tirelessly to serve the people.

Jagannath Prasad Tahasildar Basudev Pande, who is diagnosed with tongue cancer, has been working round-the-clock to strengthen the Odisha Government’s fight against the COVID-19.

Pande is visiting village to village in the remote Jagannath Prasad block to sensitize the people about the preventive measures to contain the spread of the dangerous disease.

Putting duty before his own health and family, the officer is playing a key role in implementing the various guidelines on lockdown and social distancing imposed by the district administration.

As a responsible and key official, Pande is aware of the importance of being at work during these difficult times and how much his services were required during these emergency services. Hence, he has neither visited Kolkata for treatment since two months, nor visited his family at Bhubaneswar.

The Tahasildar is giving instructions to his staff members through notes as he cannot talk properly because of tongue cancer.

Pande, who has been serving as Tahasildar in Jagannath Prasad block since August 2018, was reportedly diagnosed with cancer last year and since then he is on medication.

Really salute to this dedicated COVID-19 warrior.
