Sambalpur: With an aim to help patients live a dignified and normal life, the regional Disability Rehabilitation Center of Sambalpur has come up with first of its kind prosthetic artificial limbs center named as Silicon Cosmetic Restoration Workshop. The center, inaugurated by District Collector Subham Saxena on Christmas day will help disable persons get a new lease of life through lifelike artificial limbs. The customized silicon artificial limbs will be made at this exclusive center at Balibandha. The Silicon Cosmetic Restoration Workshop will help the patients with deformities with artificial fingers, nail, ears, nose, limbs and other body parts according to the cosmetic requirement of the skin color.
With financial assistance from the Department of Social Security And Empowerment of Persons With Disabilities and active support and persuasion from the Sambalpur District Administration led by Collector Subham Saxena, the Center today is ready to cater to the needs not only of Sambalpur but also whole of the state. Trained by experts from Delhi, the staff of Disability Rehabilitation Center will provide the required help and restoration to the patients. There are also plans for training all the staff of the Center and increase the infrastructure and resources to cater to the growing demands.
On the inaugural day, Collector Subham Saxena distributed Silicon limbs to a number of beneficiaries including two students of the Kendriya Vidyalay who saw their left palms restored to as normal. The Regional Disability Rehabilitation Center at Sambalpur has been in the forefront in providing best of the services to the patients for many years now. Patients who received artificial prosthetic limbs from this center are today living a normal life and continuing their livelihoods.
