Bhubaneswar: Today, on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, the Biju Janata Dal has got its newly developed headquarters ‘the Sankha Bhawan’ in Bhubaneswar. Party President and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has inaugurated the new building of Biju Janata Dal today.
The Sankha Bhawan is constructed on the same place where the Party began its journey 25 years ago. After a quarter of a century, the Biju Janata Dal has now its modern home that reflects the spirit of modern Odisha and stand as an edifice of Odisha’s transformation. In all these years, the party has seen many ups and downs, many tales of struggles and valour and witnessed the biggest successes under the leadership of Naveen Patnaik.
Addressing the people of the State from Sankha Bhawan Naveen said that, Sankha Bhawan will be a meeting place for all those who love Odisha, who are interested in working for the development of Odisha, for the protection of Odisha and for building a new Odisha and an empowered Odisha. This will be the favorite building of 4.5 crore Odias.
The Chief Minister also announced that all programs of Sankha Bhawan will be dedicated to the service of people of Odisha.
The year 1997 was the beginning of a new era in Odisha politics.The Biju Janata Dal was born with the mantra of Biju Babu’s ideals, principles, service, struggle and dedication. The Biju Janata Dal, which served the people of Odisha as a regional party, has now transformed into a social movement.
The Biju Janata Dal today stands as a formidable force in the country as a regional party. Since its inception, the party has been able to give a new direction to the development of Odisha. Odisha has seen the best of its development in the last 25 years and the role played by Biju Janata Dal is immense. Many old memories along with the future aspirations are associated with this Sankha Bhawan today. It not only reflects the success of the Party, but the success of the state. It stands tall as a reflection of Odisha’s transformation.
The Sankha Bhawan is developed on the same plot of the old BJD headquarters in Bhubaneswar. Magnificent ambience with beautiful stone works depicting Odisha’s rich culture and heritage have found place in the new building. The three storied building has a modern conference hall with a capacity to accommodate 2000 people, a 250 seater auditorium, a canteen, a swanky parking area. It has a big Media Briefing Center on the first floor.
The Sankha Bhawan has space for the top leadership of the party in the second floor. Thirty rooms with all modern facilities will be there for this purpose. Party President Naveen Patnaik will have his office on the third floor of Sankha Bhawan. All the party wings and frontal organizations will have their state level offices in this new building.
Shifting to a or building a new office for the party has its own significance. With time, all need to change. In the last 25 years, the Biju Janata Dal has grown from a small regional political party of Odisha to one of the biggest regional political parties of the country. The activities have grown manifold. The Party has grown and has been growing tremendous day by day. All this needs to be in tune with time.
The new Sankha Bhawan will accommodate all and will be the center of political activities for many decades to come.
All political parties have their swanky and modern headquarters. Be it the regional parties or the national political parties. As the organization grows, there is a need to upgrade the facilities. If we take the example of national political parties, the Bharatiya Janata Party recently got its new Central Office at New Delhi which was inaugurated by the Prime Minister himself. Likewise, all regional political parties of the country such as the DMK, AIADMK, Shiv Sena, YSR Congress Party, Telugu Desam Party, Samajwadi Party etc., have their own bigger and spacious state and national headquarters. The Sankha Bhawan will be a testimony to the Biju Janata Dal’s good governance under the leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and the transformation of Odisha.
